"Find your peace and live in it." - Yohance' Salimu
While my therapeutic style is integrative, I frequently incorporate tenets from my three specialty areas; DBT, RO-DBT, and EMDR.
DBT
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a type of talk therapy for people who experience emotions very intensely. It's a common therapy for people with borderline personality disorder, however, therapists provide it for other mental health conditions as well.
RO-DBT
Radically-Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO DBT) is a type of therapy that treats disorders of overcontrol, where individuals exhibit a level of self-control that interferes with their ability to function effectively, connect with others, and be flexible when needed.
EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of trauma or disturbing life experiences. It is widely assumed that severe emotional pain requires a long time to heal. EMDR therapy shows that the mind can in fact heal from psychological trauma much as the body recovers from physical trauma. If the mental processes is blocked or imbalanced by the impact of a disturbing event, the emotional wound festers and can cause intense suffering. Once the block is removed, healing resumes.
